Physician's Materia Medica on Ammoniac

AMMONIAC
   Gum resin from DOREMA AMMONIACUM, Don. Loc_a1lycount_er irritant, a constituent of “warming” plasters. Internally used as a stimulant expectorant in chronic bronchitis. Dose, 0.12 to 0.30 Grm. (2 to 5 grs.).1

UROTROPIN (Formin)
   Derivative from formaldehyd. Urinary Antiseptic and uric acid solvent; renders the urine acid. Useful in cystitis, especially when urine is ammoniacal, also in gout and in typhoid fever. Dose, 0.2 to 0.5 Grm. (3 to 7 grs.) two or three times a day.1
