Physician's Materia Medica on Alum [aluminium And Potassium Sulphate]

ALUM [Aluminium and Potassium Sulphate]
   A powerful astringent. Internally used as an emetic (especially in croup), also in lead colic. Locally used as a hemostatic or an as tringent wash or gargle. Dose as emetic, 4 to 8 Grm. (60 to 120 grs.); in lead colic, 1 to 3 Grru. (15 to 45 grs.) every 4 hours, in dilute solution.1
