Physician's Materia Medica on Antidote

CEDRON
   The seed of SIMABA CEDRON, (R Br.) PLANCH. Bitter tonic. antiperiodic, cerebral sedative; in large doses, cathartic. Reputed antidote to venom of serpents.2

COFFEECOFFE
   The seed of COFFEA ARABICA, Lin. Stimulant to the nervous system; antidote to Opium and Morphine. Active principle Caffeine, q. v.2

POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE
   A powerful oxidizing agent; locally antiseptic, deodorant and caustic; internally emmenagogue (less eflicient and more irritant than manganese dioxide) and gastric antiseptic; hypodermatically. antidote to venom of snakes, also antidote to morphine. Dose, 0.06 to 0.12 Grm. (1 to 2 grs.).2

SOAP
   Antacid and so used as an antidote in poisoning by acids. Locally it is of use as a detergent and for relief of cutaneous irritation; in suppository or enema it acts as a laxative.2
