Dose, 10... / ... acid, and solnine, a crystallizable alkaloid isolated by John Uri Lloyd, and physically resembling hydrastine. Preparation.Specific Medicine Solanum. Dose, 10 to 30 drops. Specific Indications.Ep... / ...but not with marked benefit. We have found it a good modifier of the paroxysms of whooping cough. Altogether its virtues are much overrated.1

HYDRASTINE
   An alkaloid obtained from GOLDEN SEAL, q. v. The medicinal activity of Golden-seal seems to reside chiefly in this alkaloid which is a valuable remedy in catarrhal affections of the mucous mem branes, and as a uterine hemostatic. Dose, 0.008 to 0.03 Grm. (1/8 to 1/2 grs.).2

Physician's Therapeutics Memoranda on Hydrastine
LEUCORRHEA
   Improve general health by appropriate medication, exercise, etc. Uterine tonics will be generally useful. Local treatment may be by vaginal douche or by use of vaginal suppositories (preferably Iodosyl Ovoids, N., B. & Co.), the most useful remedies in this connection be ing boric acid, zinc acetate or sulphocarbolate, hydrastine, Iodosyl, alum, carbolic acid and belladonna.2
