ELIXIR DIGITALIN COMPOUND
   Each fluidrachm contains; Digitalin (German), 1-100 gr.; Strych nine Sulphate, 1-50 gr.; Nitroglycerin, 1-100 gr. A most energetic stimulant, very prompt in action, especially useful in the treatment of surgical shock or collapse and in the cardiac depression following fever. The liquid preparation is commonly to be preferred to tab lets, and ought to be in the pocket medicine case of every physician. Ordinary dose 4 c. c. (1 fluidrachm).1

ASTHMA
   For immediate relief, the smoke from mixtures of stramonium or henbane leaves with nitre and a... / ...orable. For general treatment, tonics, especially strychnine; grindelia, euphorbia pilulifera; iodides, arsenic; if of cardiac origin, heart tonics, Elixir Digitalin Compound, N., B. & Co.; if arising from gastric irrita tion, trea cause. In any case consider question of a change of residence.1

   For shock, stimulants, especially Elixir Digitalin Compound: hypodermatic injections morphine and atropine. Among the best local remedies are carron oil (linseed oil and lime-water, equal parts, to which may be added 5 per cent. of carbolic acid), solution picric acid (picric acid, 37 grs.; alcohol, 1% fl. ozs.; water, (1. s. to make one pint), creosote water (to relieve pain); in less severe burns, carbolated oil (15 grs. to fl. oz.), Alkal-antiseptine, sodium carbonate in aqueous solution.1
