   Horehound (Marrubium vulgare) has been used to treat coughs for a long time. Steep 1 tablespoon of horehound in a cup of boiling water for 15 minutes. Gargle with the strained tea.    The leaves and tops of MARRUBIUM VULGARE, Lin. Diaphoretic, expectorant, deobstruent; in large doses laxative. Used chiefly as a remedy for coughs, in combination with other agents.3
