   The root of Chondodendron tomentosum, Ruiz et Pavon (and others...MM) (Nat. Ord. Menispermaceae). A vine of Brazil and Peru. Dose, 5 to 30 grains. Common Names: Pareira-brava, Pareira Root. Principal Constituents.—Tannin, and a white and a yellow alkaloid, the latter similar to berberine. The white alkaloid pelosine, found in undetermined species and in false pareira-brava, is identical with berberine and buxine. Preparation.—Specific Medicine Pareira. Dose, 1 to 30 drops.
