SPARTEINE
Alkaloid obtained from CYTISUS SCOPARIUS, (L.) Link., (Broom. u. v.). Diuretic and cardiac stimulant. Used in the same way as Digitalis, or combined therewith; locally applied in erysipelas. Dose of the sulphate, 0.015 to 0.06 Grm. (1/4 to 1 gr.).2

A most eflicient agent in the treatment of anasarca and ascites. Each fluidrachm contains; Pilocarpine Hydrochloride, 1-32 gr.; Strychnine Sulphate, 1-64 gr.; Digitoxin, 1-500 gr.; Sparteine Sulphate. 1/8 gr.2

GOITRE
In simple Goitre (Bronchocele), ointment of mercuric iodide or tincture iodine externally; creosotide or potassium iodide and extract of thymus gland internally. In Exophthalmic Goitre, belladonna, strophanthus. ergot and sparteine are among the remedies that have been found serviceable. Extract of suprarenal capsules promises good results.2
