Ataxia
Friedreich ataxia is an inherited disease that damages your nervous system. The damage affects your spinal cord and the nerves that control muscle movement in your arms and legs. Symptoms usually begin between the ages of 5 and 15. The main symptom is ataxia, which means trouble coordinating movements. Specific symptoms include:
- Difficulty walking
- Muscle weakness
- Speech problems
- Involuntary eye movements
- Scoliosis (curving of the spine to one side)
- Heart palpitations, from the heart disease which can happen along with Friedreich ataxia
People with Friedreich ataxia usually need a wheelchair 15 to 20 years after symptoms first appear. In severe cases, people become incapacitated. There is no cure. You can treat symptoms with medicines, braces, surgery, and physical therapy.

ANTIPYRIN (Phenazone)
Chemical name Phenyldimethylpyrazolon. Antipyretic, anal gesic, locally hemostatic. Used chiefly for relief of pain of a non-in fiammatory character, as in neuralgic affections and in locomotor ataxia. It often gives relief in whooping cough, and is a valuable remedy in epilepsy. Locally it is used with advantage in acute coryza and in hemorrhoids, associated generally with cocaine. Dose. 0.2 to 0.3 Grm. (3 to 5 grs.), which may be increased if the remedy is well borne.1

LOCOMOTOR ATAXIA
If due to syphilitic infection antisyphilitic remedies such as potassium iodide and Donovan’s solution. If resulting from metal lic poisoning, iodides to promote elimination. Systematic exercises toregain faculty of coordinating movements. For relief of “lightning” pains, acetanilid, antipyrin, phenacetin, lactophenin, chang ing often from one to another of these and combining them with caffeine; cannabis indica. Solution Gold and Arsenic Bromide, N., B. & Co. may do good.1
