A safe and eflicient depleting agent, accomplishing painlessly what was formerly effected by application of blisters, viz. relief of tension in inflammatory swellings by local abstraction of the watery constituents of the blood. The preparation consists simply of pure glycerin incorporated with a mineral silicate, previously well dried, with antiseptics such as methyl salicylate and boric acid added to increase the efliciency of the application. APPENDICITIS
If surgical treatment is not deemed wise, prescribe rest in recum bent position, local depletion by leeches or by Glyceroplasma, an enema to thoroughly clean out the lower bowel, opium or morphine in full sedative doses.1

Glyceroplasma acts as a local depletant and so in many Cases gives relief. In internal congestions, eliminants, ergot, digitalis and quinine are useful agents, cathartics being most frequently pre scribed.1

In Acute Hepatitis, employ the usual remedies for inflammation; aconite, calomel followed by seidlitz powder, potassium citrate, spirit nitrous ether; small blister over liver; Glyceroplasma; food must be simple and easily digested (or predigested). If abscess forms, evacuate by aspiration. - In the Chronic Hepatitis of hot climates, nitromuriatic acid in ternally and locally applied is the most approved remedy; potassium iodide, ammonium chloride.1

Aconite as arterial sedative; diaphoretic and diuretic remedies, especially potassium citrate, ammonium acetate and spirit nitrous ether; mercurial cathartic; Dover’s powder. Locally depletant remedies, especially Glyceroplasma (blisters, leeches); turpentine stupe; hop poultice.1

General treatment the same as in acute bronchitis or coryza, As special remedies, inhalations of steam from water to which has been added compound tincture benzoin or Antiseptine or in later stages eucalyptol (a few drops) or menthol, or these latter may be mixed with albolene and used in spray. As local application, at first Glyceroplasma or Phenol Camphor (a few drops several times a day), later oil turpentine or tincture iodine as counter-irritant.1

If uremia is threaten ed, elaterium, Tonic Pilocarpine Compound, hot air baths to cause sweating. In later stages digitalis and squill, caffeine, compound spirit juniper, even cantharides in small doses.1
