HAEMOGLOBOGEN
A hematinic tonic, which combines the characters of a predigested nitrogenous food with those of a blood renewing agent. The pre paration is somewhat richer in iron than Haemo-mangan (q. v.), which preparation this resembles in composition and properties, Dose, 4 to 15 c. c. (1 to 4 fluidrachms) after each meal.3

NUTRIENT PEPTONES
A preparation representing the nitrogenous elements of beef, milk and cereal grains in a vinous vehicle. The nutrient value of such a preparation is far higher than that of a wine or elixir of beef prepared from the extract of beef. Taken in connection with meals, the preparation serves to assist digestion by a direct stimulant action on the glands of the stom ach. It is of use, therefore, not only in convalescence from acute illness, but in enfeebled conditions of the system generally where the3

NUTRIENT PEPTONES WITH CREOSOTE
This preparation combines with the peptonized nitrogenous con stituents of beef, milk and cereal grains as much Creosote and Guaia col as can be rendered at all palatable. It constitutes thus a highly concentrated, predigested food, having also the stimulant properties of the wine which forms the vehicle, and a powerful bactericidal action due to the creosote present. The combination is one admira bly adapted to meet the indications in a wasting disease like phthisis, and experience has shown th3

CATARRH, NASAL (See also Coryza)
Chronic Nasal Catarrh in our climate is an intractable affection. In mild cases Alkal-Antiseptine, well diluted with water and ap plied twice daily by aid of the little douche that accompanies it, is all the treatment needed. Application of Iodosyl once daily has a most happy effect. Tonics are often indicated. Atrophic Nasal Catarrh calls for use of more active antiseptics and a stimulating treatment, silver nitrate, iodine and hydrogen peroxide being the most useful remediés.3

DIPHTHERIA AND MEMBRANOUS CROUP

FRECKLES

GANGRENE
Bromine is the most e lcient escharotic; chromic acid and nitric acid are often used. Carbolic acid applied in full strength, followed by alcohol to limit its action, with subsequent dressing with Iodosyl has given excellent results. For cleansing, hydrogen peroxide is eflicient. Ichthyol and boric acid may be used in dressing, but Iodosyl is better. Internally guaiacol and creosote to guard against p yemia.3

ULCERS
The treatment must depend on the conditions. In general the applications that are of most benefit are at once stimulating and antiseptic. That most generally useful is Iodosyl. As a cleansing agent, hydrogen peroxide is generally best, although more powerful applications (caustics) have their use, particularly strong carbolic acid followed by alcohol to limit its destructive action.3
