AMERICAN HELLEBORE
   The rhizome and root of VERATRUM VIRIDE, Solander. Cardiac - depressant. having remarkable power to reduce the pulse in fever. Its most- important use is in controlling blood pressure in aortic an eurism, in cerebral hyperemia and in certain heart affections. Apt to cause nausea unless combined with an opiate. Produces best ef fects when doses are frequently repeated. Dose 0.06 to 0.2 Grm. (1 to 3 grs-).2

CANNABIS INDICA (Indian Cannabis)
   The flowering tops of the pistillate plant of CANNABIs sa'r1vA, Lin., grown in the East Indies. Antispasmodic, analgesic, deliriant. aphrodisiac. Locally applied it is anti-pruritic. Prescribed in teta nus, in neuralgia, in insomnia and other conditions depending on anemia of the brain, in combating the morphine habit, etc. Dose, 0.2 to 0.6 Grm. (3 to 10 grs.) or more.2

DAMIANATUDI
   The leaves of TURNERA DIFFUSA APHRODISIACA, (Ward) Urb. Tonic, stimulant diuretic, laxative, reputed aphrodisiac.2

MOUNTAIN LAURELKALA
   The leaves of KALMIA LATIFOLIA, Lin. A sedative poison. In small doses antipyretic, alterative, anti-syphilitic, cardiac sedative, astringent. Prescribed in febrile conditions, in chronic diarrhea and as a general alterative.2

NARGOL (Silver Nucleinate)
   A preparation having properties resembling those of Silver Nitrate. q. v. Chiefly used in the treatment of gonorrhea, and of ophthalmias due to gonorrheal infection. Urethral injections may be of the strength of1 to4 grs. to the ounce (1/4 to 1 per cent.), in acute cases.2

SODIUM CACODYLATE
   Contains arsenic, and accordingly is alterative and germicidal although scarcely poisonous. Used in tuberculosis, obstinate psoriasis, glycosuria and pseudo-leukemia. Dose, 0.06 to 0.30 Grm. (1 to 5 grs.).2

WILD INDIGO (Baptisia)BAPTI
   The root of BAPTISIA TINCTORIA, (L.) R. Br. Alterative, hepatic stimulant, emetic, cathartic, antiseptic; used with advantage in typhoid conditions and septicemia; topically applied to foul, irritable and painful ulcers, and wherever there are fetid discharges.2

ECZEMA

EPILEPSY

GANGRENE
   Bromine is the most e lcient escharotic; chromic acid and nitric acid are often used. Carbolic acid applied in full strength, followed by alcohol to limit its action, with subsequent dressing with Iodosyl has given excellent results. For cleansing, hydrogen peroxide is eflicient. Ichthyol and boric acid may be used in dressing, but Iodosyl is better. Internally guaiacol and creosote to guard against p yemia.2

LITHEMIA
   To eliminate uric acid use Lithiated Ze-an. The patient should drink much water.2

NEPHRITIS, ACUTE
   Prescribe at first aconite, calomel and sodium bicarbonate fol lowed by a saline cathartic; warm mucilaginous drinks, potassium citrate and Ze-an; Glyceroplasma over loins. If uremia is threaten ed, elaterium, Tonic Pilocarpine Compound, hot air baths to cause sweating. In later stages digitalis and squill, caffeine, compound spirit juniper, even cantharides in small doses.2

PYEMIA
   Antistreptococcic serum promises more than any other remedy; resorcin, Iodosyl, boric acid, ferric chloride have proved of service.2

UREMIA
   Promote elimination by skin and bowels; Tonic Pilocarpine Com pound, N., B. & Co. with the hot pack for the former; elaterium for the latter. For convulsions, chloral and bromides (Bromanodyne) or chloroform (by inhalation). Vt!ut3S€3Ctl()n must be considered, with the alternative of intravenous injection of normal salt solution.2
